Norsam Technologies, Inc. of Hillsboro, Oregon announces a new line of extreme precision aperture strips and discs for focused ion beam and electron microscope equipment and applications. NorsamÕs proprietary process allows for the highest quality and quick turn around of custom apertures strips and/or discs -at the best pricing. Plus each strip or disc can be uniquely numbered. Norsam's apertures are completely free of burrs, show no signs of thermal effects such as puddling or mechanical stress, clean, clear, perfectly round or other shapes milled to extreme precision to create precise beams Š submicron to millimeters. Norsam is a nano micromachining company utilizing focused ion beam, laser and chemical etch proprietary technologies to manufacture diamond tips and probes, apertures/holes, diamond microblades, TEM services and other nano micromachining products and services. The company developed a line of nano diamond microblades used by NASA to extract comet particles from the aerogel collector returned to earth on the recent Stardust mission. PRESS RELEASE
SANTA FE, NEW MEXICO JANUARY 21, 2006
DIAMOND MICROBLADES TO CUT COMET PARTICLES OUT OF STARDUST AEROGEL
It was announced today by John Bishop, President of Norsam Technologies, Inc., a Santa Fe, New Mexico and Hillsboro, Oregon based company, that Norsam has worked with the Institute of Geophysics and Planetary Physics, a University of California Institute at Lawrence Livermore Laboratory and NASA to design and supply ultrasonic diamond microblades used to extract comet particles from the aerogel collector returned to earth on the Stardust mission.
These ultra-thin diamond microblades are 25 microns thick at the start of the blade and angle down to a submicron cutting surface. They produce fast and smooth cuts that leave no foreign residue to confuse scientists as compared to the true comet particles (Refer to web site http://meteoritics.org/Current%20Issue.htm to see picture of microblade).
Norsam is a nano micromachining company utilizing focused ion beam, laser and chemical etch proprietary technologies to manufacture diamond tips and probes, apertures/holes (sub-micron to millimeter), microblades, TEM services and other nano micromachining products and services. The company provides an archival preservation microfilm replacement technology called HD-ROSETTA that provides analog and/or digital images onto metal discs. The company has cross licensed its focused ion beam technology with DeBeers to provide microscopic clear markings on the table of a diamond as opposed to the black mark left on the girdle of a diamond with most lasers. Norsams original focused ion beam technology is under exclusive license from Los Alamos National Laboratory.
